Zhiming Xing has been engaged in the scientific research and development, engineering construction and organization and management of railway informatization for more than 40 years. He participated in the construction of major projects such as "Daqin line operation management system", "railway transportation management information system (TMIS)", "Qinghai Tibet Railway Information System", the national "863" high-tech research project "3S application demonstration in major industries - Railway Logistics", and "12306 railway customer Service Center", "95306 railway freight customer service center".

He is the Deputy editor in chief of Technical specifications for Urban Rapid Rail Transit -- operation control center and informatization, Smart city rail information technology framework and network security specification, smart city rail key technology research and specification and urban rail transit information engineering design specification.

He has published many papers and edited books such as China Railway TMIS project.

He has successively obtained: experts who enjoy the special allowance of the State Council; Science and technology achievement award of the Ministry of railways; Zhan Tianyou Railway Science and Technology Achievement Award; China Railway Locomotive medal, etc.
